Daily Devotional (August-01-2021) WHO YOU LISTEN TO MATTERS
John 15:14 – “Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.”
Our opening verse shows as what the Lord Jesus Christ tells us that we can only become His friends if only we obey His commandment. Meaning if someone is said to be my friend such a person can easily talk me in or out of something, or moreover such a person can easily influence my life and decisions. Everybody have a particular friend or company that they listen to or obeys. My dear which type of company of friends do you keep around? Well, surly we have a good and bad company of friends depending the type of advice they give you.
The people you usually move with have a great chance of influencing you. So if the people you keep are good then you have a bright future ahead but if the opposite then you don’t have a future is that simple. Bad company have the ability to change you into becoming like them. If you walk with friends who don’t go to church it is likely that you will loose interest in attending church services. If it hasn’t happen to you it is just the matter of time and that is if you continue to move with such people.
(1 Corinthians 15:33 BBE) “Do not be tricked by false words: evil company does damage to good behaviour.”_ The Bible has made it very clear that bad company will lead you on a wrong road to your final distraction. Don’t be that easy to be tricked or confused. The work of the Holy Spirit in your life is to teach you and advise you on the right decisions to take.
(1 Corinthians 15:33 NET) Do not be deceived: Bad company corrupts good morals.”_ Don’t be deceived that they have been giving you good advice sometimes, my dear is just the matter of time.
If you keep bad friends they will eventually convert you, or you will convert them. They will eventually lead your heart away from God and to most of you you have started loosing interest in spiritual things already and you know yourself.
But as a Christian if you want to remain in Christ, then you need to have good friends. A good friend must have something in common with what you believe in.
Don’t tell yourself I will convert them because you will need much wisdom to do that and moreover you are not the Holy Spirit to change people. The day you become their “Holy Spirit” – you may fall away!
If you are in Christ then walk in Him, if you are in the spirit then walk in the spirit. Keep people that believes in what you believe in and will challenge you to do more for Jesus Christ.
Prayer – Thank you Heavenly Father for this great wisdom and direction given me. I therefore meet the right people and I make the right friends and with this wisdom I walk in light everyday in Jesus mighty Name. Amen.
