You’re an incredible, creative human being, living in a state of constant, chronic distraction and giving in to the culture around you that wants you to compare and feel terrible about yourself. We have to stop comparing ourselves to other people and know that God has installed greatness in us. Gideon was not seeing himself the way God does, but when he believed what God had told him, he became what God wanted him to be.
This culture of comparison, this culture of cynicism, this culture of reliance on everything else that isn’t God, is really bad. This culture we seem to live in, where we divide so quickly with people and we can’t learn anything from anyone, keeps us ignorant.
The Lord said to Gideon, “Go in the strength that you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Then Gideon sees the fire of the Lord and is afraid, and God says, “It’s friendly fire.” He says peace! “You’re not going to die,” and he built an alter and called it “The Lord is peace.”
We have to make peace with our strength, and we can only do that by depending on God with our whole hearts.
