THEME: JESUS IS LORD AND CHRIST
SCRIPTURE: -(Acts 2:36).”Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
When we say Jesus is Lord, it means Master, one who’s over others. He’s Lord and Christ! He can also be called Lord Christ or Christ the Lord. This is important because of the meaning of the word “Christ.”
Christ is from the Greek word “Christos” and it’s the equivalent of the word “Messiah” in Hebrew. But Messiah means “anointed one” who becomes the Saviour. So, Jesus is God’s anointed One, sent for the salvation of the world. When He was born, the angels brought the tidings of it to the shepherds and said, “For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11).
Also, Peter boldly declared this incredible truth to the Jews in Jerusalem, as read in our theme verse; he said, “…God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.” Hallelujah! In John 4, based on the testimony of the Samaritan woman, many of the Samaritans of the city came to hear Jesus for a first-hand confirmation, and they said to the woman, “…Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world” (John 4:42). Hallelujah!
Believing that Jesus is Christ is very important, because without that, there’s no salvation. Jesus isn’t one of the “Christs”; there’s no such thing as “other Christs”; Jesus is THE CHRIST! And the Bible says, “Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God…” (1 John 5:1). Your salvation is hinged on this. Jesus is both Lord and Christ; proclaim it everywhere. Praise God forever!
PRAYER / CONFESSION
Blessed Lord Jesus, I recognize you as my Master and Ruler, the One with supreme authority and preeminence. I believe with all my heart and declare with my mouth that you’re Lord over every circumstance and everything that has to do with my life. Amen.
