    We all experience temptation at one point or another. Sometimes it’s in the form of a great deal, sometimes it’s in the form of a person who is attractive, and sometimes it’s just plain old food! Regardless of what tempts us, God wants us to be victorious over any and all things that may cause us to sin. He also wants us to pray for strength when we’re tempted so that we can choose His will over our own desires. In this article, I’ll share with you some powerful prayers for temptation so that you too can be victorious!

    1. Look for the positive.

    Think about the positive.

    Whether you’re dealing with temptation or just trying to get through a difficult situation, it can be very easy to only focus on the negative aspects of your life. But if you want to find hope and strength in your faith, it’s important that you take time each day to remind yourself of all the good things in your life (and also those who have helped).

    Look for the positives in yourself. You are strong because God made you so; He gave you gifts and talents so that you could live an amazing life! You have been given so much! Maybe not by others, but by God himself! No one else has ever been like YOU before; no one else will ever be again! That’s pretty cool if we think about it. So look at yourself from this perspective: What makes me unique? Why does God love ME above all others? What gifts do I have that other people don’t even know about yet or haven’t discovered yet themselves? How can I use them during this difficult time right now today?

    One of the best things you can do to fight temptation is to find your inner strength. When we feel good about ourselves and know that we are doing what’s right, it is much easier to say no to things that would cause us harm. To identify this, you may have to examine some of your beliefs and values. What makes me happy? Am I always doing things that make me happy? When was the last time I felt good about myself? How can I get back on track with these questions in mind?

    3. Look for love and support.

    When you are tempted, seek out the love and support of friends:

    • Talk to someone you trust.
    • Pray if that’s how you connect with God.
    • Write down your feelings to help you clarify them in your mind and heart. Be honest with yourself and others about what’s going on inside of you, even if it’s uncomfortable—if not for their sake, then for yours! Honesty is often the best policy when it comes to temptation; there’s no point in pretending everything is fine when it isn’t, even if that leaves us feeling vulnerable or exposed at times. If nothing else, honesty will help keep any future temptations from happening because we’re more aware of our triggers than ever before!
    • Seek out professional help from someone who specializes in this area (e.g., a therapist or pastor). You may also want to find a support group where people who share similar struggles can gather together regularly so they can lean on each other during difficult times like these ones right now.”

    4. Ask for guidance.

    The next time you feel your willpower falter, try to remember that no one is perfect. But we all have the choice to keep going or give up. You can choose to give in and be defeated by temptation. Or, when faced with temptation, you can ask for help from a higher power—whether it’s God, Buddha, or Allah; a friend or family member; a therapist or counselor; a religious leader; a support group; coach, or mentor—or anyone else who inspires confidence and strength within you. By recognizing your weakness and reaching out for support from others who are stronger than yourself, you’re not only strengthening your own resolve but also finding the kind of guidance that will help lead you through difficult times when temptations strike again!

    As you go about your day, look for reasons to be more thankful and grateful in your life.     The last one is the most important, and it’s something that we have to do every day. We may not always be aware of it, but we need to focus on something small but positive in our lives. It could be something as simple as going for a walk outside or enjoying a cup of coffee with a friend.

    The reason why this works so well is that when you focus on something positive in your life, it can help you feel better about yourself and give you a sense of self-worth. This will make it easier for you to resist temptation because if there are things that makeup who you are and what makes up your identity (your values), then why would any temptation take precedence over these things?

    • Find a way to be stronger. If you’re asked to do something that you know is not right, say no! You have the power to make choices about what you want or don’t want for yourself, so why not choose the best?
    • Find a way to be more positive. When we consider how easy it would be for us to give up on ourselves if we let ourselves get too discouraged by temptations, it can help motivate us when we hear of someone who has made a positive change in their life through this very process of overcoming temptation and staying strong against it!
    • Find a way to be more grateful. The next time someone asks you for something inappropriate or even harmful (like drugs), thank them for thinking of your well-being but instead inform them about what consequences there might be if they continue down this path themselves instead–then offer them some kind words about how great they really looked at their recent wedding or whatever else sounds appropriate instead! This will hopefully encourage them towards making better choices next time around.


    If you struggle with temptation, don’t despair. You can overcome it and find happiness. Praying for strength from God is a powerful way to fight against temptations, as well as being mindful of the positive things in your life that can help you stay strong. It may take time before you feel more confident in yourself and less tempted by negative emotions or thoughts, but it’s worth it!
