Powerful Prayers For OCD

While many people think of obsessive-compulsive disorder as simply an inability to perform tasks in a timely manner due to excessive ticks, twitches, and cleaning rituals, OCD can be a crippling mental illness. OCD sufferers often feel like they are not being heard or that their symptoms are not being taken seriously. However, there is help available for those suffering from this condition. If you choose to take the spiritual route toward healing from your OCD, try these prayers to ask for help from God and begin your road on the path back to wellness:

    Powerful Prayers For OCD

    1. Prayers for Confession

    Prayers for Confession

    • Confess your sins to God.
    • Confess your sins to a priest.
    • Confess your sins to a friend or family member.
    • Make a list of people who you can trust and then write down what you did on that piece of paper and go ahead and rip it up, throw it into the trashcan, whatever works best for you! You can also write these out on an app like “Notes” or “Google Docs”, but do not email these documents anywhere. This is confidential information so take care in how you store this information – only for yourself!

If you have been able to identify which person(s) needs to know about what happened, consider inviting them into a conversation about this topic – but do not pressure yourself into having this conversation if it does not feel right in that moment or location (e.g., over coffee).

    2. Prayers for Cleansing

Intention: To receive cleansing and forgiveness for the unclean thoughts and actions that plague me, so that I may be made clean and able to serve You without reservation.

    Prayers for Cleansing

“I repent of all my sins, whether they are known or not, whether I remember them or not.” –Author Unknown

    • “Blessed are those who have been cleansed from their sin. They will have no fear in the time of judgment.” — Jesus Christ, Luke 11:9-13 (NIV)
    • “For if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” — 1 John 1:9 (NKJV)

    3. Prayers for Courage

    • Prayers for Courage:

It takes courage to face your fears. It takes courage to get help. It takes courage to confront your OCD. You can overcome your OCD and change your life with the right support, so don’t be afraid! Pray for the strength you need to take action and seek out support from those around you who care about you.* Accept Help From Others: Being in a relationship with someone who has OCD can be extremely challenging, especially when they refuse treatment or continue doing things that harm themselves or others despite knowing better. If this describes the situation you’re in right now, try praying for the patience necessary for accepting the help of others during difficult times – whether it’s an outside therapist or just another person who understands what it’s like living with an obsessive-compulsive disorder such as yours.

    4. Prayers for Discernment

    Prayers for discernment

Discernment is the ability to recognize good from evil. It’s an important part of being a Christian because it helps you to know when something or someone is harmful or dangerous. God wants you to use your discernment skills so that you can make wise choices in life.

Heavenly Father, please fill my heart with wisdom and understanding so that I may make decisions with confidence and clarity. Help me to see things clearly, even when others cannot see them at all! I want my actions and words to reflect Your love for all people everywhere! In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen

    5. Prayers for Forgiveness

The second step on your healing journey is forgiveness.

Forgiveness is a powerful tool to help you overcome OCD. If you want to be healed from OCD, then it’s important to forgive others and yourself for mistakes made in the past. Forgiveness does not mean that we forget or ignore the harm done; instead, it means that we let go of our anger and resentment toward those who have hurt us so that we can live a more peaceful life today and tomorrow. Remember that forgiveness is not about someone else—it’s about how forgiving helps YOU!

    6. Prayers for Guidance

Prayers for Guidance are a great way to help you focus on the important things in life. These prayers remind us of our eternal purpose and help us make good decisions that reflect our faith.

In the Bible, we see many examples of people who prayed for guidance and received it:

    • Joseph Smith prayed before making any major life decisions; whether it was deciding whether or not he should marry Emma Hale or choosing which church he should join after being baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Both times he received divine direction from God through spiritual experiences.
    • Moses asked God how to best lead his people out of Egypt so they could worship freely; He replied with specific instructions on how they were supposed to do this (see Exodus 3-4).

    7. Prayers for Healing

In addition to asking God for the healing of your mind and body, you can also pray for the healing of other areas. Be sincere in your prayers and ask God to heal:

    • The mind
    • The emotions
    • The soul (or heart)

    8. Prayers for Hope and Peace

This prayer is a great place to start when you’re feeling overwhelmed by your OCD. It will help you get grounded and remind yourself of God’s love for you. Try praying it multiple times throughout the day, especially if anxiety is getting the best of you.

It’s very important to remember that God’s peace isn’t just something that comes from Him—it also goes out from us as we live our lives with His guidance and protection in mind. We can pray this prayer ourselves, but it’s also a great way to encourage others who may be struggling with OCD or other mental illnesses.

    9. Prayers for Patience

Prayers for patience are also helpful when you need to be patient with others. When your spouse or child is having an OCD episode and is refusing to take their medication, you can pray for patience. Prayers for patience can also help in situations where someone else needs your unconditional love and support but they’re not being very loving back. For example, if you have an OCD mother-in-law who only sees her son’s problems as real and makes disparaging comments about his wife, it may be difficult to remain patient when she asks you questions about her son’s mental health or belittles his wife’s efforts at making sure everyone feels included during family gatherings.

In addition to praying for patience with others, it can be beneficial to use the same prayer when dealing with yourself as well! This can include times when your own anxiety gets out of control or escalates past what is healthy (which I like using “anxiety spikes” as a term for). It could also mean that there are things about yourself that aren’t working well enough yet so it takes some time before they become better…or maybe even get worse before getting better again!

    10. Prayers for Strength and Courage

Prayer is an important part of your recovery. As you pray, focus on the power of God, who is greater than any disorder you may be facing.

It’s important to have a strong faith and support network in place before seeking treatment for OCD. Prayer can help strengthen both of these elements.

    11. With just a few simple prayers, you can be on your way to liberation from OCD.

Prayers are a powerful way to connect with God. They help you feel more peaceful, confident, and in control. You can pray for anything you want, including freedom from OCD!

If you’re ready to get started now, here are some simple prayers that just about anyone can say:
