While many people think of obsessive-compulsive disorder as simply an inability to perform tasks in a timely manner due to excessive ticks, twitches, and cleaning rituals, OCD can be a crippling mental illness. OCD sufferers often feel like they are not being heard or that their symptoms are not being taken seriously. However, there is help available for those suffering from this condition. If you choose to take the spiritual route toward healing from your OCD, try these prayers to ask for help from God and begin your road on the path back to wellness:

  • Confess your sins to a friend or family member.
  • Make a list of people who you can trust and then write down what you did on that piece of paper and go ahead and rip it up, throw it into the trashcan, whatever works best for you! You can also write these out on an app like “Notes” or “Google Docs”, but do not email these documents anywhere. This is confidential information so take care in how you store this information – only for yourself!

If you have been able to identify which person(s) needs to know about what happened, consider inviting them into a conversation about this topic – but do not pressure yourself into having this conversation if it does not feel right in that moment or location (e.g., over coffee).
