Powerful Prayers For A New President

Prayer is a powerful thing. Prayer has been shown to have major health benefits, reduce stress, and even help you sleep better. But what if you’re not religious? Or perhaps you are but feel uncomfortable praying in public? The good news is that there’s no need to be intimidated by the idea of prayers. You can still reap all the benefits of prayer without feeling like you’re asking for something from a deity or power outside yourself; in fact, sometimes it may help to do just that! Here are some powerful prayers for a new president:

Powerful Prayers For A New President

    1. Prayer for God’s Protection Over Our Nation

God is sovereign. We are to pray for our leaders, and we are to pray for our nation. That being said, there is a right way and a wrong way to do this. The right thing to do is not to pray “God bless America!” but rather, “God protect America!”

We should pray that God will protect us from attacks on our country; we should also pray that he would protect us from attacks within our country. We need him to preserve us from those who seek harm against us and against those who want justice in this country when it’s needed. We must remember that God has promised his protection over the U.S., so let’s trust him wholeheartedly with these concerns!

    2. Prayer for Prosperity

    • Pray for all the people who are suffering because of the economy.
    • Pray for the economy to improve.
    • Pray for a government that makes good decisions.
    • Pray for a government that makes wise decisions, and seeks God’s counsel when making decisions in order to benefit the people.

    3. Prayer for Peace and Unity in Our Nation

Dear Father, we come before you this day with much prayer and expectation as our nation elects a new president. We pray for peace and unity in our nation as we look to the future together.

We pray for the president and his family, that they may have wisdom, strength, and love in their hearts as they navigate through these difficult times.

We also pray for Vice President Biden and his family, that they may be comforted by Your presence while they wait out this transition period.

We lift up President-elect Trump’s family as well as Vice President-elect Pence’s family during this time of great change; please guide them with Your wisdom so that their choices will always reflect what is best for our country rather than what is best for themselves or their friends or families alone.

Our Heavenly Father, we also ask You to provide strength and support to each member of Congress—both those who are being sworn in today (Govs Nikki Haley & Susana Martinez) and those who already hold elected office (Senators Orrin Hatch & Cory Booker).

    4. Prayer for Restoration of Somber Hearts

+ For the President and his family, that they would be strengthened by God to carry out their duties with wisdom and grace

+ For government officials, that would rely on God’s wisdom in making decisions for the nation

+ For leaders at all levels of government, that would make decisions based on what is best for our country

+ For people who live in this country and other nations around the world, they would use their freedom wisely

+ For Christians living in America, that we might stand firm in our faith during difficult times

    5. Prayer for Victory Over the Enemy in Jesus’ Name

As you pray, ask God to not only protect you and your family but also to protect all of the people who live in your country. Pray that the enemy will be defeated and that the church will be filled with believers who are doing what they know is right.

Pray for your nation to prosper economically, politically, and socially as well as spiritually. Ask God to bring about justice in every way so that everyone can have a fair chance at life and success no matter their background or financial status.

Ask for unity among Christians because this is what it means when we say “One Nation Under God” (or whatever your country’s national motto is). Also ask for peace because even though there are times when conflict may seem inevitable (like during war), we should still strive for peace whenever possible—especially since Jesus taught us how important it is! Lastly, since solemn hearts lead people closer to Christ than anything else does; pray that more people would turn their hearts towards Him every day if at all possible

    6. Prayer to Have a Pure Heart

Prayer to Have a Pure Heart

There are many ways to pray, but the most powerful is prayer with the heart. The Lord says in Psalm 51:17, “The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; A broken and humbled heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise.” A humble heart before God is the key to receiving His blessings. To have a pure heart before God you must first ask Him for one. You cannot make yourself humble or pure; you need help from God. In James 4:5 we read “Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain…? Ye ask and receive not because ye ask amiss…” We must pray for our hearts to be cleansed by asking God for purity instead of demanding it from Him (see Matthew 7:7).

    7. Pray!

    Pray!

Pray for God to give you the strength to do what is right.

Pray for God to give you the courage to do what is right.

Pray for God to give you the wisdom to do what is right.

Pray for God to give you the opportunity to do what is right.

    Closing

In the end, it is important to remember that democracy is not a spectator sport. It’s up to all of us—whether we voted for the new president or not—to keep an eye on our government and make sure it is doing what it’s supposed to be doing: serving the public interest.
