The theme For today’s word by Joel Osteen is “Keep Dodging the Spears” Read Joel Osteen daily devotional for today November 19 2023.
Today’s Scripture: 1 Samuel 18:8, NLT This made Saul very angry. “What’s this?” he said. “They credit David with ten thousands and me with only thousands. Next they’ll be making him their king!”
Today’s Word
When David was alone in the fields shepherding his father’s sheep, no one criticized or opposed him. But after he killed Goliath and became an overnight hero, King Saul became so jealous of David’s success that he eventually threw a spear at him, trying to kill him. David dodged that spear but had to keep dodging spears, doing the right thing when Saul chased him through the desert.
When God’s favor is on your life and gives you more influence, small-minded people will throw spears at you that you need to keep dodging. They’ll be critical of you, say mean things about you, and treat you wrong. There will be plenty of opportunities to get baited into conflict, pick up their spears and throw them back. You have to get to the point where you’re not moved by persecution. When those spears start coming, that means you’re about to take the throne as David did. If you keep dodging the spears, overlooking the wrongs, and staying on the high road, God will take care of your Sauls.
Prayer for Today
“Father, thank You for the favor and blessings that You have given me. Help me to remember that with the blessing comes persecution, opposition, and adversaries. I declare that I’m going to keep dodging the spears and letting You take care of my Sauls. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
