Scripture: Hebrews 2:7-9
7 You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.
8 You gave him authority over all things. Now when it says “all things,” it means nothing is left out. Yet we do not see everything under his authority.
9 But we do see Jesus, who was made lower than the angels for a little while, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death. This is so that by God’s grace he would experience death for everyone.
Summary of the Sermon:
This sermon is taken from from the book of Hebrews which reminds us that Jesus was crowned with glory and honor. In His earthly life, Jesus was humble, obedient, and patient. He was willing to humble Himself and submit to death on the cross. But because of His obedience, He was crowned with glory and honor.
Jesus’s example teaches us that there is great reward for humility and obedience. We are called to be humble and obedient, to submit to God’s will, and to reject the temptations of pride and self-will. We must learn to deny ourselves, take up our crosses, and follow Jesus.
But the reward of humility and obedience is not just in this life. In the life to come, we too will be crowned with glory and honor. We will receive a crown of righteousness and a crown of life. We will be rewarded for our faithfulness and our good works.
So let us not grow discouraged or weary in doing good. Let us not be tempted to take the easy path or to seek our own glory. Rather, let us walk in humility and obedience, trusting in God’s promises and His plan for our lives. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, who is crowned with glory and honor, and follow Him. Amen.
