Nathanael Wood Sermons The Catalyst of Forgiveness: Luke 23 vs. 34 says, “ Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.“. we all make mistakes and the best thing we can do when we make a mistake is to ask for forgiveness and if we are the ones that have been wronged, we should learn to forgive the other party because at some point you must have wronged another person.
It can be difficult to let go and move on, worse of all some people expect you to just get over it. However, holding a grudge can get really heavy and burdensome. carrying resentment gets tiring leading to bitterness which is really terrible for the soul. Nathanael Wood teaches us that without forgiveness, life is an endless cycle of resentment and retaliation, this is not God’s will for us.
We should ask ourselves what forgiveness could speed up in our lives? we must recall that forgiveness is the attribute of the strong, our strength comes from God, its also been said that forgiveness is a gift we give ourselves and its not just about being introspective, forgiveness is being generous. it is the catalyst of restoration and reconciliation. it is the catalyst to peace and rest, it is the catalyst to healing and wholeness, it is the catalyst to unparalleled freedom, it is a catalyst to a good community living, a catalyst to an enlarged life. The benefit of forgiveness are more than that of bearing grudges, we must learn to be like Christ, give forgiveness to both those who ask and those who do not, those who we feel are worthy, etc. as Christians, the lord is our role model, let us try to follow in his steps even when it is not convenient.
