SCRIPTURE: “Thou shalt surely give him, and thine heart shall not be grieved when thou givest unto him: because that for this thing the Lord thy God shall bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.” – Deuteronomy 15:10.
Surely, God rewards faithful givers in His kingdom. However, it is common to hear some believers say that they give but do not get rewards for their giving. The truth is that the kingdom of God is run by principles and laws. Therefore, giving in God’s kingdom does not automatically guarantee reward. If your giving is not in line with the standards of the Bible, it will not yield the rewards or results that you desire. Many give offering but not in obedience to the Bible standard. Many give first fruit but violate God’s command in doing so. Many pay tithe but follow their discretion, whims and caprices, rather than God’s rules on tithing. Each of these givers or payers expects rewards and they blame God when they do not get their expected results.
Do you want God to remember and reward your giving handsomely? Here are the steps you should take to guarantee that. First, you (the giver) must be saved and living in the will of God. Your prayer, tithe and first fruit will rise to God as a sweet smelling sacrifice; He will accept as well as reward them. So, you should first give your life to Jesus, become a member of His kingdom and a citizen of heaven.
Second, you must get rid of iniquity in your life. Job 22:23-25 makes this clear: ‘If thou return to the Almighty, thou shalt put away iniquity far from thy tabernacles. Then shalt thou lay up gold as dust, and the gold of Ophir as the brooks. Yea, the Almighty shall be thy defence, and thou shalt have plenty of silver.’ This passage enjoins that you (1) Repent and return to God if you have sinned or wandered away from Him. When you do this, He will lift and build you up. (2). Put away iniquity far from your life – be holy, walk with God and be perfect. The result is that your giving will be acceptable, you will have gold as dust and plenty of silver (stupendous or untold wealth), and God will be your defence.
