SCRIPTURE: “Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” – Revelation 2:5

One of the Bible’s prophesies of the end time is that there shall be a great falling away, departing from faith and giving heed to seducing spirits and the doctrines of the devils (1 Timothy 4:1). Although this is being fulfilled in our days, I pray that you will not be a victim of the prophecy, in the Name of Jesus.

Dear reader, it is important for you to know the danger signs that lead to losing faith and avoid them. Let us examine some of them. The first danger sign is cooling off and losing your “first love” for Jesus as well as being lukewarm and neither cold nor hot (Revelation 2:4-5 and Revelation 3:15-16). Whenever you discover that your interest in the things you were fervently serving God before has waned and you have become lukewarm, you must turn to God in prayer, repent and return to your first love. Pray the fire of effective service, eagerness for God, fervency and enthusiasm back into your life. If your first love was soul winning, you must go back to it and even increase your impetus. So, the first danger sign is being lukewarm and neither cold nor hot (Revelation 3:15-16).

The second danger sign is being filled with your own ways and desires. Proverbs 14:14 says that backsliders in heart shall be filled with his own ways. A backsliding person is usually not teachable and is often stiff-necked. Such a person has an idol in his or her heart and has hurtful lusts, which drowns men in perdition (1 Timothy 6:9). If you notice any of these traits in your life, you need to cry to God for help and expunge the idol of backsliding out of your heart.

Another danger signal of backsliding is losing sight of the heavenly goal in favour of temporal gain. The Bible says that where there is no vision, the people perish (Proverbs 29:18). The spirit of backsliding can only come in if you take your eyes away from Jesus and the vision of heaven. Malachi 3:14 hints us that people that have lost sight of the heavenly goal say, “It is vain to serve God …what profit is it?” Keep your eyes and focus on the vision of heaven and keep eternity in view always.

    PRAYER POINTS:

    MORNING

    1. My Father, deliver me from the spirit of lukewarmness and self-satisfaction, in the Name of Jesus.
    2. Father, let the fire of divine love and service be restored to me, in the Name of Jesus.
    3. End time spirit that make people to lose faith and backslide, I am not your candidate, die, in the Name of Jesus.

    EVENING

    1. Spirit of destiny dislocation, get behind me and die, in the Name of Jesus.
    2. I refuse to be filled with my ways. O Lord, make me teachable, in the Name of Jesus.
    3. I will not lose sight of the heavenly goal and vision, in the Name of Jesus.
    4. Any idol assigned to take me away from God’s presence, die, in the Name of Jesus.
