Max Lucado Sermons 21 September 2021: How God Breaks Down Walls

Max Lucado Sermons How God Breaks Down Walls: God used Philip to break down the wall between the jews and the Samaritan, in the days of the old testament church, the jews had nothing to do with the samaritans, the two cultures hated each other for a very long time, the feud was baked into their system, the feud involved claims of defection, intermarriage and disloyalty to the temple. the Samaritans were blacklisted, their beds, utensils and even their spittle, everything was considered unclean, no real jew would travel to the region, they would rather double their trip if that meant staying out of Samaria, that was how severe it was.

Jesus however spoke to the Samaritan woman on the samaritan turf, drinking water from her ladle, discussing her questions, he stepped across the cultural taboo as if it were a sleeping Dog in the doorway, Jesus loves to break down walls, that is why he sent Philip to Samaria.

Act 8 vs. 5-7 says, “Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them, And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did, For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed”.

God accepts all people, as long as they are willing to be receive him and believe in him with all of your heart, Philip also baptised an eunuch who was totally different from him, both by skin colour and more.

The lesson from this chapters of the bible teaches us of how much God loves the other person by the wall, christ brought us together through his death on the cross. The cross got us to embrace one another and that brought about the end of all hostility and the end of all the walls.
