Joyce Meyer Daily Devotionals May 16 2023 Topic: God Speaks Wisdom
SCRIPTURE: If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him. — James 1:5 (AMPC)
One reason hearing God’s voice is so powerful is that it releases God’s wisdom into a situation—and God’s wisdom can completely turn things around. When His wisdom comes to any circumstances—whether it is a decision, a relationship, a financial question, a medical crisis a professional matter, a personal issue, or a choice that may affect the course of your life for years to come—it will give you insight and direction you probably would not have ever thought of on your own. The wisdom of God can save you money, time, energy, it can even save your life. It can result in blessings you never imagined; it can give you favor where you were once despised; it can heal division between people; and it can bring total restoration out of complete devastation. God’s wisdom can make you so much smarter than you naturally are and lead to wonderful things!
Today’s verse says God gives us wisdom, but what does it mean to be wise? Simply put, wise people make decisions now that they will be happy with later. Unwise people, on the other hand, do what feels good at the moment and almost always end up unhappy with their choices. Unwise people operate out of their emotions instead of asking God for His wisdom—and they usually regret the impulsive, emotional decisions that result. Wise people, on the contrary, look back on a situation and marvel at the grace and guidance God has given them as they have sought Him. They realize that they have been incredibly blessed by God as they experience the kind of fruitfulness that comes from making wise choices. As you seek God today, ask for His wisdom.
Prayer of the Day: Father, I pray for Your wisdom to guide me in all my decisions and circumstances. Please help me to make wise choices now that I will be happy with later. I ask for. Your inside and direction, and I trust that Your wisdom will be blessings beyond my imagination.
