SCRIPTURE: Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.— Psalm 54:4 (NIV)
We should always depend on God for strength. He is our strength. He sustains and maintains us. He upholds us, guides us, and never gives us more to handle than we can bear. He is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1 NIV). Isaiah 41:10 teaches us not to fear because He will strengthen, help, and uphold us in times of trouble.
The joy of the Lord is our strength (see Nehemiah 8:10). I encourage you to avoid discouragement, depression, sadness, and despair as much as possible, because these negative conditions will weaken you and zap your strength. We all have times when things happen and discourage us or make us sad, but those are exactly the times when we need to pray for strength to stay strong in the Lord and to resist the temptation to sink into despair. If you are experiencing any of these difficult negative emotions right now, think about some prayers God has answered for you in the past, and know that He will do it again.
The apostle Paul urges us: Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might (Ephesians 6:10 NKJV). You are created to do great things but know that Satan will try to stop you through his lies and deception. Believe God’s Word more than you believe how you feel or what things look like. Rejoice, for God is about to show Himself strong in your life.
Prayer of the Day: Father, I am expecting You to do great things. You are my strength, and I need strength right now to be steadfast and wait patiently on You. Thank You.
