THEME : YOU DON’T GET WHAT YOU DESERVE!

For it is by free grace (God’s unmerited favor) that you are saved (delivered from judgment and made partakers of Christ’s salvation) through [your] faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [of your own doing, it came not through your own striving], but it is the gift of God. (Ephesians 2:8 AMP)

Have you ever heard someone say, “He got just what he deserved”? When people say this, they’re usually referring to the negative consequences that someone is suffering due to their own destructive actions or wrong choices.

While religion portrays God as an angry dictator, ready to punish those who disobey, nothing could be farther from the truth. God is our loving heavenly Father, who gave the life of His Son, Jesus Christ, so that we can experience the love and grace He so desires to give us.

One definition of grace is “unmerited favor.” God’s grace is something you didn’t earn; it is a gift from your heavenly Father. Any time you see the word grace in your Bible, you can interchange it with the word favor.

Simply put, God’s grace, His unmerited favor, is the manifestation of God giving you something you do not deserve.

    • Grace will give you what you did not earn.
    • Grace will qualify you for what you did not qualify for.
    • Grace will give you what you do not deserve—praise God!

You can do lot of good things, like spending hours reading God’s Word or praying and fasting. However, what matters most and gives God the ability to move in your life is to understand the free gift of His grace. Once you’ve received this gift, you can know with certainty that you won’t get what you deserve.

Confession: Thank You, Father, that through the grace that is in Christ Jesus you give me what I did not earn, what I do not qualify for, and what I don’t deserve.
