How To Walk In The Light Of God

Savior of the world, Jesus Christ, is the light of the world. He shines God’s love and glory into our hearts and minds. In John 8:12, Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” The Book of 1 John reminds us that we are to “walk in the light” (1 John 1:7). Walking in God’s presence every day can make all the difference in how we see ourselves, our fellow man and God’s creation. Here are six ways you can seek to walk in His presence daily.

How To Walk In The Light Of God

Spend time in God’s presence.

The Bible says that God is everywhere and in everything. That means that you are connected to God at all times and that He is always working on your behalf.

The truth of this can be seen in your own life, because you have felt His presence when you were struggling with something or needed help. You may have been praying for something, and He led you to the right person or gave you the right information at just the right moment. Or maybe He simply encouraged you in your darkest hour so that your faith could grow stronger than before—this happened with me many times during my childhood when I was bullied by other kids because I was different from them; but each time it happened, I knew that God was there for me (Jeremiah 29:11).

Dwell on the positive.

  • Dwell on the positive.

If you have a negative thought, don’t force it out of your mind, but acknowledge it and let it go. Dwelling on the negative can keep you from enjoying some of the good things in your life. Instead, try to focus on what makes you happy and grateful for what you have. Think about all that is good in your life and be aware of how much God loves you!

  • Be mindful of what brings joy and peace to your heart – those things are usually good for us because they bring us closer to God.

Wait for God to move rather than moving on your own.

As you wait on God, trust that He will do everything that needs to be done. Trust His timing, His plan and His love. Trust the power of God to work in your life and the lives of those around you. When we walk in the light of God, we are trusting Him completely because He is our source of life!

God has given us everything we need to walk in the light of Him:

  • The Holy Spirit (John 14:26)
  • The Word (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Keep God’s Word close to your heart.

The Bible is the best book to read, study, memorize and keep near you. It is also the best book to share with others. This is because it contains all that we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3).

As you walk in the light of God, make it a priority to study His Word daily. Having a quiet time each day can help you grow stronger spiritually by knowing what God says about who He created us to be and how we should live our lives on this earth. When we read God’s Word daily we grow closer to Him and closer to His thoughts about us because our minds become trained on His truth instead of what other people think about us or try telling us about ourselves.

Seek out opportunities to share God’s love with others.

  • Share your faith.
  • Share your talents.
  • Share your time.
  • Share your love.
  • Share your resources.
  • Share your heart and pain with others (and ask them to do the same).
  • And last but not least, share your joy with others!

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, mind and soul.

It is important to trust in the Lord with all your heart, mind and soul. When we put our trust in ourselves, we fail. We cannot do it on our own.

We need to trust God’s plans for us over our own plans for ourselves because His plan is always better than ours. He knows what’s best for us and has a perfect plan that will make everything work out perfectly if we just trust Him with it all and follow Him down His path instead of trying to lead ourselves down our own paths where there are many dangers lurking along the way that can cause harm not just to ourselves but also those around us.

Trust God’s timing over your own timing because His timing is always perfect whereas yours may not be as good as it could be or should be depending on what situation you are facing at any given time (or even if one doesn’t exist).

When situations arise which could cause trouble between people who care about each other dearly like friends or family members, pray about how each person involved feels about what happened then ask them what they think would happen if things didn’t work out between them now so that you can begin talking about ways how both sides might benefit from working together instead of apart when dealing with these kinds of issues arising between people who know each other well enough not only through stories told by others but also by spending time together regularly so that they know each other better than anyone else would even after getting married someday soon!

Ask God to show you how to walk each day in His light.

Ask God to show you how to walk each day in His light.

  • Be specific: Ask God to show you how to walk in His light in a specific situation.
  • Ask Him for wisdom: “Lord, I ask You for the wisdom I need to make the right choices as I deal with this situation.” This prayer is especially important when we are facing difficult choices or decisions that could have far-reaching consequences on our lives and our families.

Conclusion

It’s often difficult to understand the importance of walking in God’s light. We have been called to do so, but many people do not know what it means. It doesn’t just mean being a good person; it also involves keeping your eyes fixed on Him and obeying His commands. Walking in God’s light comes through spending time with Him each day. This can be done by reading his Word or praying for guidance from above! The more that you spend time with God, the closer you will get to living out His purpose for your life.
