How To Love God More Than Anything

One of the greatest challenges of Christianity is to love God more than anything else. The Bible says that we should be willing to give up our friends and family, and even our own lives, if necessary. That’s a high standard! If you’re looking for ways to increase your love for God, here are some recommendations.

How To Love God More Than Anything

Spend time with God.

God wants you to spend time with Him. The Bible says so in several places: “The Lord…is a man who delights in his way” (Psalm 37:4, ESV), and “The LORD watches over the strangers; he upholds the orphan and the widow, but despises the wicked” (Psalm 146:9).

God wants you to spend time with other people. The Bible doesn’t say this explicitly, but it is implied by Paul when he writes about loving one another in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.

God wants you to spend time with yourself! I know some of you are thinking, “I can’t do that; there’s no way I’m going to sit still long enough to enjoy myself.” That’s okay; we all have our struggles with self-love at times. But if we want our lives to be full and meaningful, we need some time alone now and then so that we can reflect on what God has done for us or pray about future plans or even just relax after a stressful day at work (and if those things aren’t happening in your life right now–well then maybe it’s time for some soul searching).

God also wants us spend quality family time together so that we can maintain healthy relationships outside of church activities as well as within them!

Enjoy His glory.

The Bible says that God’s glory is His goodness, majesty, holiness and perfection. He is the Creator of all things and therefore worthy of our worship. When you love God more than anything else, you will feel compelled to enjoy His glory in everything around you.

The Bible also says that the Lord’s name is “to be feared among the nations” (Psalm 83:18). When we love God more than anything else, our fear of Him will increase because we recognize how much He deserves our reverence and respect. We will also take delight in His power and majesty (cf 1 Chronicles 29:11; Psalm 9:1).

Know that He wants your love.

God is love. He wants you to love Him and others. He wants you to love yourself as well. This is what it means to be a Christian: we’re called to live in the way that God loves us, which means loving others and ourselves just as much as He does.

Be thankful for His blessings.

Being thankful for God’s blessings is another key to developing a relationship with Him. God’s goodness and grace are evident in all that He does for us, and we should be thankful for each of His blessings. Be on the lookout for ways that God may have blessed you recently, whether it was something large like a new job or something small like a beautiful sunset. When you’re looking at your life as a whole, ask yourself how much more blessed than others you are (Romans 5:12). If there are things that could be better in your life, don’t focus on them—instead thank God that He has been good to you despite them!

Surrender your life to Him.

Surrender your life to Him.

When we surrender our lives to God, we are giving up control of the things that happen around us, as well as our emotions and feelings. We must trust that God has a plan for us that is beyond our understanding or comprehension. We must also trust that He knows what is best for us in every situation, even when it doesn’t seem like it at the time. Finally, we must believe that His timing is perfect and will work out for our good (Romans 8:28). Surrendering means trusting in God’s love so much that instead of wanting more control over your life because you think you know what’s best, you give up control because you believe in His love more than anything else!

Love God more than the things of the world.

  • God is more important than anything in the world.
  • God is more important than your family.
  • God is more important than your friends.
  • God is more important than your job.
  • God is more important than your possessions.
  • And most of all, He is certainly more important than any health condition or status you might have been born with!

See others through God’s eyes.

In order to love God and others, we must first understand that God’s love is unconditional. This means that it will never change or go away—it is always there for us. In John 1:9, it tells us “God loves us so much that he gave his one and only Son as a sacrifice for our sins.” God sent Jesus to die on the cross so that we could be forgiven of our sins and be able to spend eternity with Him in heaven (John 3:16). Nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38–39).

When you keep these things in mind when interacting with those around you, you will be able to see them through the eyes of Christ!

Learn how to love God no matter what is going on in your life or in the world

In the beginning of your relationship with God, you may have found it easy to love Him. But as time went on, your life circumstances began to change and now it’s not so easy to love God.

Maybe you’ve been hurt by someone close to you, or maybe there is a health issue that has come into your life—maybe even an illness that threatens to end your days on this earth. Either way, these obstacles can make it difficult for us humans to love God no matter what happens in our lives or in the world around us. However…God never changes! He still wants us—even when things are hard or uncertain in our lives.

In conclusion, we hope you realize that God wants you to love Him. He doesn’t want your love just when things are going good. He wants your love no matter what is going on in your life or in the world. If we can learn how to love God more than anything, there is nothing that will get us down. We will always have hope and joy because of our loving relationship with the Lord.
