How To Find God’s Calling For Your Life

I have heard so many people say that they are waiting for God to call them, but I have to admit that the phrase sounds strange. I’ve always thought of God’s calling as the reason he created me and placed me on earth. I am in the process of discovering my calling now, and I can tell you that it isn’t easy to hear from God, especially when you’re young and eager to be out in the world making a difference. However, it is also important not to rush Him or try to figure things out on your own. Here’s what has helped me:

How To Find God’s Calling For Your Life

Don’t try to rush God.

It is important to know that God has a plan for your life. He won’t rush you and he knows when it is time for him to reveal his calling for your life. Don’t try to force things on your own, because if you do, it will only cause stress in your life and make the process more difficult than it needs to be. When God reveals his calling for your life, he will make sure that both parties are ready before making any decisions about what path you should take together.

Don’t neglect Bible study and prayer because they are the only way you can know God’s voice.

It is important to understand that God speaks through the Bible and prayer. The Bible is a direct message from God to us, so we need to make sure we are applying it correctly. We must be willing to listen for God’s voice in order for us to hear him speaking into our lives.

If you do not listen, then how do you know if God has called you? If someone tells me that they have been called by God but they don’t want anything to do with him or his word (the bible), then I would be very concerned about their sincerity and whether or not this person really heard from god at all.

Be open to change.

God’s calling is not set in stone, and it will change as you grow. When I was younger, I thought that my calling would be the same forever; however, as I’ve grown older and my circumstances have changed, so has God’s plan for me. Be open to new opportunities and possibilities!

Understand that sometimes the call takes time.

God’s call is not always immediate. It may take weeks, months and even years for you to hear God’s voice and understand what it means for your life.

God’s call is not always clear. Sometimes we mistake the Lord’s leading as something else—perhaps even something bad—and we miss out on His blessings because of it!

God’s calling is not always easy. Sometimes we think that if God called us to do something, He would make it easy for us; but sometimes His plans require sacrifice and hard work by those who have been called by Him (John 15:18-27).

God’s calling may be uncomfortable at times too: “My grace is sufficient for you [Paul], for My strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

Make sure your talents and passions fit with your calling.

  • Don’t make a decision based on what you think others will think.
  • Don’t make a decision based on what you think you should do.
  • Don’t make a decision based on what you think you are good at.
  • Don’t make a decision based on what you think you are passionate about.
