How To Allow The Holy Spirit To Take Control

When I was a kid, my parents had all sorts of rules for me. They were always trying to keep me on the straight and narrow. But as time went on, I started to realize that some of those rules weren’t really helping me be a better person; instead, they were hindering my growth because they didn’t give me room to grow up and make mistakes. In other words, my parents’ “rules” weren’t actually making their lives easier—they were just making ours harder!

The same is true of God’s rules when it comes to the Holy Spirit. The Bible says that the Holy Spirit will guide you through your life if you allow Him full control over it (John 14:26). What does this mean? Well…it means that we have to stop trying so hard! If we want God’s guidance in our lives, we need to trust Him fully and be open with Him about what we’re going through. We also need to learn how His voice speaks into our hearts—and then listen closely when He speaks (1 John 2:27).

How To Allow The Holy Spirit To Take Control

1. Don’t resist God’s will.

The first step to allowing the Holy Spirit to take control is not resisting His will. You must pray, ask God what He wants you to do, and then surrender yourself completely. Many people try to leave their own imprint on their lives instead of letting God direct them. They think they know what they want and try hard to achieve it on their own but end up frustrated because nothing goes right or they just don’t get anywhere.

Humility is important in allowing the Holy Spirit to lead you; if you are humble enough and willing enough, He will guide you through life with ease and success!

2. Seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit through our Lord Jesus Christ.

To allow the Holy Spirit to take control of your life, you will want to seek His guidance through our Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit is the third Person of the Trinity and He is the one who guides us, helps us be faithful and obedient, and helps us overcome sin in our lives. When we are saved by accepting Jesus as our Savior we open up a channel for God’s Spirit to work through us. This does not mean that we will do all things correctly or even correctly most of the time because it takes time for God’s Word to become part of our lives but with practice, it can happen more easily if we surrender ourselves completely to His hands daily asking Him for help with each decision made throughout each day.

3. Follow Christ and observe His commandments.

  • Follow Christ and observe His commandments.

Following Christ means that you are a disciple of Christ. A disciple is someone who follows and obeys Jesus Christ. To be a follower of Jesus means you are following the example set by Him and learning from Him how to live your life, including how to love others, how to serve your neighbors, how to treat others with respect and dignity, and so on. You can do this by observing the laws of God (and also observing what it means when people say “observing”).

4. Realize that without Him we can do nothing to please God.

  • Realize that without Him we can do nothing to please God.

The Bible says in John 15:5, “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in Me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit…” In other words, if you want to be fruitful for God then abide in Christ. You see, we cannot bear any fruit unless we are connected to a branch (Christ). We must be connected with Him so He can flow through us and produce fruit from our lives! The only way this happens is by abiding in Christ—living by His life—and allowing Him to live through us as He gives us power through His Spirit. There are many ways this happens but one of them is through asking for His help every day! When someone asks for help from another person or an organization/company etc., they expect a response from that other person or organization/company because they have done something wrong which necessitates their request for assistance from someone else. But when we ask Jesus Christ (through prayer), it’s different because there’s no need to ask Him because He already knows what’s best for us even though sometimes it might not seem like it initially since everything looks different when viewed through human eyes rather than Godly wisdom!

5. Become a partaker of the divine nature, by drawing near to God through faith in Jesus Christ and His Word

  • Become a partaker of the divine nature, by drawing near to God through faith in Jesus Christ and His Word

You have been made a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). You have been brought into union with Him and given an inheritance as a joint heir with Christ (Romans 8:16; Galatians 4:7). In addition, you possess all that He possesses because He is your life (John 6:57). And as you walk in this relationship with Him, you will discover that His life is being manifested out of yours (2 Corinthians 3:18). When we see what God has done for us through Jesus Christ, we can rest assured that He has already made provision for our redemption from sin’s condemnation (Romans 8:1-3).

6. Become dead to sin, it is no longer our master; we no longer live under its control (see Romans 6).

The Holy Spirit can take control of your life. But in order to do so, you must be willing to surrender yourself to Him and allow Him to lead. This means doing away with all things that are not of God and allowing His power and glory to reign supreme in your life. It means being faithful in prayer, reading and meditating on the Word of God, and giving yourself completely over to His purposes for you. You must also decide that sin will no longer have any part or claim on you (see Romans 6:6-7).

Sin is not a part of who we are anymore; it has been crucified with Christ on the cross (see Galatians 2:20). Sin is not our master; we no longer live under its control (see Romans 6:14a). We have authority over sin because Jesus died for us so that we might live free from all condemnation (see 1 John 1:9).

7. Obey God and do all that is pleasing before Him, which is not difficult or burdensome because He has written laws on our hearts (see Jeremiah 31:33).

The last thing God wants us to do is to follow the law blindly. We need to understand what God’s laws are and how they affect our lives. The Holy Spirit will reveal His laws to you, and as you obey them, He will give you more insight into His Word so that you can grow over time into a mature follower of Christ (1 Peter 2:2).

God has written His absolute standard on every human heart—the moral law that is impossible for us to fulfill perfectly (Romans 3:10,23). However, this does not mean that He expects us to try; it simply means that obedience is possible through Jesus Christ (Romans 8:1). Once we are saved by grace through faith alone in Christ alone, the Holy Spirit comes into our hearts and gives us a new nature so we can begin living according to God’s standards instead of our own fleshly desires (John 15:26–27; Romans 7:18–25; Ephesians 4:22–24).

8. Following these steps will help you allow the Holy Spirit to control your life

You’ll feel the Holy Spirit’s presence in your life when you learn to recognize what it feels like, listen for it, and respond to it.

The first step is recognizing the Holy Spirit. You can do this by asking yourself if what you’re feeling is from the Holy Spirit or not. If it’s not, then stop doing whatever you’re doing and get rid of that thought process immediately before something bad happens! For example, My husband was going through a tough time at work and was considering quitting his job because he felt he wasn’t appreciated enough by his boss (don’t worry—he didn’t quit). However, something inside him told him that he should wait until after Christmas before making any decisions about whether or not he should leave his job at Applebee’s (the restaurant chain where my husband has been working for over 8 years).

The next step is listening for His voice within yourself by meditating on scriptures such as John 16:13-15 which says: “When He comes], [He] will guide you into all truth.” This means that even though there may be times when we feel like we’re getting away from God or doing things without His permission—we can still always turn back around on our path towards Him if we choose to! The final step is allowing yourself to become controlled by Christ so that He leads your life; otherwise known as submitting yourself completely under His authority so everything goes smoothly without having any resistance whatsoever.”

Closing

The Holy Spirit is a powerful force that can guide us in our lives. The first step to being able to welcome the Holy Spirit into your life is by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. If you haven’t done this yet, please do it today! The second step would be to pray for guidance from God’s word or take part in worship services where others are praying for guidance from God too. In conclusion, allow the Holy Spirit to take control of every aspect of your life so that you may live free from sin and be filled with His love.
