How Do We Seek God

God is the most important person in our lives. But sometimes we can get so caught up in the busyness of daily life that we forget to seek Him and spend time with Him. The Bible tells us that God wants to have a relationship with us, but He won’t force it on us or make us feel guilty if we’re not doing what He wants us to do. Instead, He has provided many ways for us to seek Him and draw near to Him: by reading His Word (the Bible), praying to Him, obeying His commandments, worshipping Him through music and other forms of worship—and even fellowshipping with other believers at church. Let’s explore these different methods!

How Do We Seek God

1. We Seek God by His Word

We seek God by His Word.

Only the Word of God can reveal God to us. The Bible reveals that He is our Creator, Redeemer, and Sovereign King. It also reveals what He wants from us (to live for Him), how we are to live for Him (through His Spirit), and what He has done for us (made a way back to Himself through life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ), and it tells us how we can know what is true in all matters (by comparing Scripture with Scripture).

2. We Seek God by Praying to Him

We also seek God by praying to Him. Prayer is a way of communicating with God, asking for things from Him, thanking Him for things He’s done, telling Him how we feel about what’s going on in our lives, and listening to His response.

We can pray any time—in the morning when we wake up or at night before we go to sleep—or if we need something right away—like if our parents are fighting over us again and we don’t know what to do. We can pray anywhere: at school during lunchtime; on the playground after recess; before dinner when it’s time for grace (if your family says grace). You can even pray while playing games with friends or riding your bike around town! But most importantly, you should always remember that no matter where you are or what you’re doing—you can always find time for prayer!

3. We Seek God by Obeying Him

  • We show that we love God when we obey Him. As the Bible says, “If you love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15). The more we learn about God’s character and will for us, the more we will want to obey Him because it is a reflection of our love for Him.
  • We demonstrate our trust in God by obeying His commands. For example, if someone asked me to jump out of an airplane with them and then started asking me questions like “Do you trust me?” or “Do you believe I can make this safe?” I would probably have some hesitation before jumping out of the plane—but if they were able to convince me that they could make it safe and secure then I would probably do it! Likewise, when we see how faithful God is through His Word and through His people who daily demonstrate His grace and mercy toward them (Psalm 25:5), then surely He can be trusted with everything else—including obedience!
  • We show our belief in His goodness when we obey Him because He has promised blessings for those who follow His commands (Deuteronomy 28:1-14). These blessings include eternal life as well as temporal blessings such as health/wealth/prosperity/protection etc…(Deuteronomy 28:1-14).

4. We Seek God by Worshipping Him

Worship is the act of giving honor or glory to God. In Christian worship, it is when we acknowledge God’s greatness, goodness, holiness, and sovereignty. We can worship Him in many ways: through prayer; singing hymns; reading from scripture; preaching to others about who He is; serving those around us (elders, children, or widows).

And so as we begin our journey on this earth with Jesus Christ at our side as our Savior and Lord – let us continue on that journey by worshipping God each day in whatever way He chooses for us!

5. We Seek God by Fellowshipping with Believers

As followers of Christ, we have the assurance that God will never leave us or forsake us. The Bible says, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[a]neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)

Our fellowship with Him is not limited to times of worship services when we gather as a congregation; it is much more than that! We can find fellowship with God through prayer and worship just like David did when he wrote Psalm 63. He said: “O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you…I will bless your name forever…As with a shield your right hand upholds me…In your love, I sing praise to you…For I hear many whispering behind me [who] triumph over me—terrors are plotting against me! They plan trouble against me—they plot trouble against your people Israel! [But woe]to them who devise evil things on their beds! When they think up new plans at night [God’s wisdom fails], they turn away from what is right and follow their own desires…You are near when I take refuge under your wings…And so our hearts rest secure because we put our trust in You.” (Psalm 63:1-5)

6. These are some ways we can seek God.

Here are some ways we can seek God:

  • By His Word. We can read the Bible, listen to sermons and watch Christian movies; these are all good ways to learn God’s will for our lives.
  • By praying to Him. When we have a problem or need, we should ask Him for help through prayer because He is our heavenly Father who loves us and wants what is best for us.
  • By obeying Him. If you want something badly enough in your life (like peace), then you must obey God’s commands that lead you towards it (e.g., submitting yourself to authority).
  • Worshipping Him by praising His name through song, dance, and other artistic expressions of faith like writing poetry or painting pictures that show how He has touched your life with His love!

Finding God is a journey that takes time and patience. It can be difficult to know where to begin, but we must remember that the most important part of seeking God is to just do it. We don’t have to worry about doing it perfectly right away; all we need is a willingness to try and an openness to change. It doesn’t matter whether you believe in God or not; what matters is that you make an effort towards finding Him because He loves us so much and wants us all to come home someday!
