There is a lot of uncertainty in our world, but one thing we can always be sure of is God’s love for us. The Bible says that God loves us with everlasting love and that He sent His son to die for us on the cross so that we could be saved from our sin. This is an amazing truth, but how do we know it? How can we be sure that God’s love for us isn’t just a nice idea? I believe there are many ways to know that God truly loves you and me.
How Do We Know God Loves Us
1. He gave his only son on a cross
Jesus was born of the Virgin Mary in Bethlehem. His birth was heralded by an angel, who announced his coming to shepherds watching their flocks by night (Luke 2:10-11). He grew up as a carpenter’s son and lived alongside people like you and I. But unlike us, he knew he had been conceived by God so that one day he could die on the cross for our sins. And that’s exactly what happened.
He died as an innocent man for all those who were guilty; not just one or two people but everyone! That’s why we call it “the cross.” Jesus didn’t just give his life; he gave everything – even though there was nothing wrong with him! He did this because of love and compassion towards us – not only now but also in eternity!
2. God allowed his son to be murdered
God allowed his son to be murdered.
You’ve probably heard this before, but it’s one of the most powerful ways that God showed us that he loved us. When Jesus was crucified for our sins, he took our punishment on himself. If you believe in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then you can know that God loves you because Jesus died for your sins so you won’t have to suffer them anymore (Romans 5:8). This idea is called justification by faith alone. The apostle Paul wrote about this concept in his letter to the Romans: “For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all.” (Romans 10:12). In other words: if we believe in Jesus as our savior—and not just any old savior but THE Savior (John 14:6), then we can know that God loves us!
3. He’s provided a way for us to be saved
The Bible tells us that there is only one way to heaven. Jesus said it best when he said, “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
In other words, no matter how hard you try or how many times you pray for forgiveness, if you don’t trust in Jesus as your Savior from sin, then you will not make it into heaven. It’s that simple!
But don’t worry—God loves us so much that he didn’t leave us without hope: He sent his Son Jesus Christ to die for our sins on a cross at Calvary (which is why we call this holiday Easter). God loves us so much that he wants all people everywhere who are lost from him (sinners) to receive forgiveness by trusting in His Son Jesus Christ as their Savior from eternal separation from Him … so they can go on living with Him forever in heaven after death (Revelation 21-22).
4. Faith and grace are freely given by God
- God is the giver of all good things.
- God’s grace is a gift.
- The gift of salvation is provided by grace alone, through faith alone, because of Christ alone to those who believe in him (Ephesians 2:8–9).
- The concept of eternal security was developed by the early church fathers in response to the heretical teachings that salvation could be lost after baptism or after committing some sin; this teaching posits that once you are saved, you are always saved—even if you commit apostasy and rejection of Christ as Lord and Savior (1 John 2:19; 4:15–16).
5. It’s clear that God loves us.
It’s clear that God loves us. This is something we can see in the Bible, and it is something we know to be true because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.
God sent his Son, Jesus Christ, to die on a cross for our sins so we could be forgiven. This shows us how much God loves us (Romans 5:8). He didn’t have to do that at all—in fact, he doesn’t owe us anything! But he did it anyway because he loved us so much that he wanted us to be with him forever. And since he gave up his own life for our sake, then it’s clear enough what kind of love that was: perfect love (1 John 4:8)!
We know God loves us because he has loved us first. We can see this in the story of Jesus, who came to earth to save us from our sins so we could be forgiven and live in freedom. God also gave his Son as a way of showing how much he cares about us. That’s why it’s important for us to show love back by telling others about the Gospel message so everyone can hear about this amazing news!
