God loves you. That’s a simple, straightforward statement that can have profound and life-changing implications. But how do you know it? Do you really believe it? The truth is, there are many ways God shows His love for us—some of them obvious, some less so. But if we’re in Christ, we can know with certainty that God loves us more than we will ever be able to comprehend.
In this series on how to know God loves me, I’m going to address five different areas where God shows His love for us: (1) His love shown through our relationship with Him; (2) His love shown through creation; (3) His love shown through the cross; (4) His love shown through the gift of salvation; and finally (5) how we can respond to knowing God loves me by loving others with all our heart!

How Do I Know God Loves Me
1. John 3:16
The Bible says that God loves you unconditionally. That means that his love for you does not depend on your performance, appearance, accomplishments, or status. His love is based entirely on who he is and what he’s done for us through Jesus Christ.
God’s love doesn’t change over time or because of circumstances in our lives—he just loves us no matter what!
Love isn’t something we earn; if someone loves us because they want something from us, then it’s not true love at all (Luke 6:32). But God offers true unconditional love to every person who seeks him with their whole heart (Jeremiah 29:13).
2. Romans 8:28
Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
This verse talks about how God works for your good and gives you hope. It also says that God will never leave you or forsake you. In this verse, Paul states that because of what Jesus did on the cross, we have peace with God through Christ (Romans 5:1). He goes on to say that nothing can separate us from the love of Christ (Romans 8:38-39).
3. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 says, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts always hopes, and always perseveres.”
The first step to knowing God loves you is by realizing you’re loved by Him. You don’t look like a lot of people or have things that make other people jealous or envious of your life—but God knows how great you really are because He created everything! Because He created everything for His glory (Psalm 19:1), this means He has plans for each one of us…and those plans are full of goodness!
4. Romans 5:8
God’s love is not based on your actions. God does not love you because of what you do or don’t do, but rather because He has chosen to love you.
God’s love is not based on your character. God does not love you because of who you are or what kind of person (good, bad, and everything in between) that person is—He loves us all the same and unconditionally!
God’s love is not based on your appearance. It matters not how beautiful or ugly we are physical; what matters most to Him is our heart—who we are inside as people who follow Him and His ways through Christ Jesus our Lord!
God’s unconditional eternal love will never cease till eternity itself ceases!
5. Psalm 139:13-14
“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Psalm 139:13-14
God knows all of your thoughts and feelings. He knows what is on your mind, as well as what is deep inside of your heart. He knows if there are times when you doubt His love for you or wonder if He cares at all. And yet, He still loves us anyway!
What are some things that God knows about us?
6. God does love you and he proves it by sending his son.
God loves you. He proved it by sending his Son to die for your sins.
God wants to have a relationship with you and he wants you to love him back.
He sent his son Jesus so that we could learn how to love God the way he wants us to, and that is by following in his footsteps (the Ten Commandments).
God is not a respecter of persons and he shows this with his love for you. There are many verses that show how much he loves us, but the most important one is John 3:16 which says “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” If you don’t believe this then maybe it’s time to get another Bible and read it again!
