Hebrews 1 devotional is a short chapter in the New Testament. It’s also one of the most important chapters in the book because it gives a solid foundation for what Christianity is about, and how we can be sure that Jesus is God. This scripture has been pondered, studied, and analyzed by many people throughout history because it gives such an amazing perspective on what Christianity is about.

1. There’s a lot more to the first chapter of Hebrews than just the definition of faith.
The first chapter of Hebrews is not a verse-by-verse exposition on faith. Rather, it’s a letter to Jewish Christians struggling with the transition into Christ and the new life they have been given as His disciples. It begins by giving us the definition of “faith”:
“Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1)
But this isn’t all that the first chapter has in store for us! We are also reminded that Jesus is greater than angels, He guides us through our lives, and we should listen to Him. Here are some key points from this section:
- Jesus was God’s perfect sacrifice for sin (2:17).
- He will come again (3:1).
- We should live holy lives now because we know that one day soon he will return (4:14).
2. Even though he began as a tender shoot, God made his strength solid through suffering for you.
Hebrews 1:3-4 says, “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his nature, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven” (New Living Translation).
Jesus was not born king. He was born as a tender shoot who would grow into strong roots and branches that would reach throughout eternity. In order for him to become our mediator and bring us close to God, he first had to suffer on our behalf through his death on Calvary and rise from the dead so that we could be forgiven of our sins and receive eternal life when we were made clean by his blood (1 John 1:7).
3. Jesus always did exactly what God wanted him to do in order to be a perfect high priest for us.

In this chapter, we learn that Jesus is our guide who will lead us safely through all the dangers of life on earth and into eternity with God. We also learn that he is our mediator between God and us, but he did not come as a mediator because of his own righteousness (his perfection), but rather because he took on human flesh like ours so that we could relate better with him when it comes time for judgment day!
We need someone who has authority over both heaven AND earth–someone who can forgive sins against God AND punish those who break His laws; someone who knows all about Heaven AND Earth–someone who understands both good AND evil; Someone who understands ALL ABOUT YOURSELF!
4. Jesus has been crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death so that by God’s grace he could make you completely holy.
Jesus’ death was an act of love, sacrifice, obedience, submission, and trust.

Jesus’ death was a sacrifice because it cost him everything to save you from sin and the consequences of sin (death).
Jesus’ death was an act of obedience because he did what his Father wanted even when it meant giving up everything – including his own life!
Jesus’ submission on the cross shows how much he loves you as well as how much God loves all people!
5. We don’t need angels to mediate for us any longer; we have Jesus, who is our perfect mediator.

In the beginning, God created the heavens and earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness covered the deep water. God’s Spirit moved over the surface of those waters in a mist that watered the ground. God spoke, and from that first word came forth light—light which shone from above to below.
God continued to speak, declaring His creation good (Genesis 1:10). Now He would create man in His own image (Genesis 1:26). He made us male and female (Genesis 2:18), placing us in Eden where we lived under His care until our disobedience led to sin entering our world.
The book concludes with an exhortation for readers not to neglect their salvation but instead “to hold fast what they have” (Hebrews 3:6). We can do this by living according to God’s will through faithfulness toward Him even when it is difficult or seems impossible because He will always be faithful to us as well! 6. Because Jesus is greater than angels, he is our guide, and it would be foolish not to listen to him.
The author takes the time to point out that Jesus is greater than angels. He does this by saying, “For to which of the angels did God ever say, ‘You are my Son, today I have begotten you?” (Hebrews 1:5).
Then he goes on to say that Jesus is our mediator, who brings us into fellowship with God (Hebrews 1:1-2) and provides us with a way of access to heaven through his own blood (Hebrews 10:19-22).
Since Jesus is our guide through faith in him as our mediator and guide who makes it possible for us to enter heaven even though we are sinful people, then it would be foolish not to listen to him as your guide when it comes down to making sense of your life on earth.
The author also points out that because Jesus has been put forward by God as an offering for sin on behalf of all humanity (Hebrews 9:15), then he must be given due honor as one made perfect through suffering (Hebrews 2:10) -Jesus Christ died once for all time but rose from the dead three days later after being buried in a tomb made out of the rock by Joseph of Arimathea along with a rich man named Nicodemus who helped bury him there after sundown when everyone else had gone home so no one would notice what they were doing except those closest friends involved with this secret transaction whose names were never recorded anywhere outside those two men’s minds until now where they will remain forever etched onto paper so long as these writings last; however
7. Even the angels don’t fully understand Jesus. They listen intently when they hear him tell them about his plan for us.
The angels are not omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent or omnibenevolent. They can’t do everything and they don’t know everything. The Bible says they are amazed at Jesus and listen intently when he tells them about his plan for us.
They want to serve God and do what is best but sometimes they get confused or distracted by their own desires. This is why we need to pray for our guardian angel daily because it’s easy to feel like your guardian angel has forgotten about you or isn’t doing their job properly anymore. We have the same problem with God, so we keep coming back and asking him for forgiveness for our sins!

Hebrews 1:1 states that “God has spoken to us by his Son.” Jesus is able to be a perfect intercessor for us because He is both God and man—the Son of God who became flesh (John 1:14). The Bible teaches us that he died for our sins so that we could have forgiveness and eternal life through him (1 Corinthians 15:3-4).
9. After all that Jesus has done for us, it would be foolish not to put our trust in him and follow his guidance.
If you are a Christian, it is not just enough for you to believe in Jesus and follow his teachings—you must also trust him as your Mediator. He stands between you and God, taking all of your sins upon himself so that you may be forgiven and have eternal life with God. Only by trusting in Jesus can a person find peace with God and live forever in heaven.
In Hebrews 1:3–4, we read: “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being… He sustains all things through his powerful word… By these, he has made the universe.” This means that everything was created through Jesus! Not only did he create the world but he sustains it as well! All things are possible because of him—including salvation from sin (Hebrews 7:25).
Closing
It may be difficult to understand how Jesus can be our perfect high priest when we don’t see him on earth today. But that’s not what the Bible teaches us at all; instead, it tells us that he is still with us even though he has left this world behind. And since he is greater than angels, it makes sense that they would listen intently when they hear him tell them about his plan for us!
