Good Friday Morning Prayer for today : Good Friday is a significant day for Christians around the world, as it marks the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. It is a day of reflection, mourning, and repentance for our sins, as we remember the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus made for us. It is also a day of hope, as we look forward to the promise of salvation and eternal life through his resurrection. On this Good Friday morning, let us come together in prayer, to give thanks for the gift of Jesus Christ and to ask for forgiveness for our sins.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before you on this Good Friday morning with heavy hearts and humble spirits. We remember the sacrifice of your Son, Jesus Christ, who willingly laid down his life for us on the cross. We are in awe of his love and his mercy, and we thank you for the hope and redemption that his death and resurrection bring. We ask that you would help us to fully grasp the depth of your love for us, and to respond with a life of gratitude and obedience.
As we remember the events of that fateful day, we are reminded of the words that Jesus spoke from the cross. In his final moments, he cried out, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.” (Luke 23:34) Lord, we confess that we are like those who crucified your Son. We have sinned and fallen short of your glory, and we are in need of your forgiveness. We ask that you would cleanse us of our sins, and that you would fill us with your Holy Spirit, so that we might live lives that honor you.
We are also reminded of the words that Jesus spoke to the criminal who was crucified alongside him. He said, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.” (Luke 23:43) Lord, we thank you for the promise of salvation and eternal life that you have given us through your Son. We ask that you would strengthen our faith, and that you would help us to trust in your promises, even when we face trials and difficulties.
Finally, we are reminded of the words that Jesus spoke just before he died. He said, “It is finished.” (John 19:30) Lord, we thank you that the work of redemption is complete, and that we can come to you with confidence, knowing that we have been reconciled to you through Jesus Christ. We ask that you would help us to live out the truth of his sacrifice in our daily lives, and that we would be a light to those around us, sharing the hope that we have in him.
We pray all of these things in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
