God loves us. He loves us so much that he sent his son to die for our sins, so that we may be forgiven and have eternal life with him in heaven. But there’s another truth about God’s love that is sometimes overlooked: He hears your heart! The Bible says nothing is too big or too small for God to handle; he listens closely to the words of our hearts because he already knows what we’re going to ask for before we do (1 John 5). Whether you’re at home or on the go, it doesn’t matter where you are or what you’re doing—he hears your prayers! So don’t be afraid; speak up loud and clear about everything on your mind.
God Hears Your Heart
1. Nothing is too big or too small.
God hears your heart. He is interested in every thought, word, deed, and prayer. Nothing is too big or too small for Him to notice. God sees the broken-hearted woman who has been abused by her husband; He hears her cry out to Him with heavy tears of pain and shame. He knows that she needs someone to comfort her broken spirit and heal her wounded soul.
God hears the old man who struggles with Alzheimer’s Disease and wonders why he has been left behind as time marches on without him; He sees how confused he feels when his loved ones speak to him but their words do not register in his mind. God knows that this man longs for peace at last so that he can be free from worrying about what might happen next—and whether or not anyone will be there for him when it does happen again tomorrow or next week or next year (or whatever).
2. God hears everything.
God is omniscient. He knows everything, sees everything, and hears everything.
God knows your heart and where it has been and where it is going (Jeremiah 17:9). He knows what is in your mind as well as what you have done in secret (Psalm 90:8). God even knew your sins before they were committed (Isaiah 53:2). God sees every one of us from beginning to end (Daniel 2:22-23). Your life is recorded in His Book of Life (Philippians 4:3) and will never be erased by death or sin because Jesus Christ has paid the price for our sins with His own blood on Calvary’s cross (Revelation 22:19-20).
3. The Bible says he watches over our lives and knows our every word, thought, and deed.
God has given us all a conscience, which will lead us to do good and avoid evil. He knows your heart and all that’s in it, so listen carefully when you think about doing something wrong. God also knows what you are thinking, as well as what you are saying and doing. He even knows your future! But most importantly, he knows your past because he remembers every detail of it.
God sees everything that goes on in life; no matter where we go or what we do, the Lord watches over all his children with love and care… “For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift up their hands against any evil that may happen to you.” Psalm 91:11-12a NIV
4. He already knows what we’re going to ask for before we do.
- God knows what we need before we ask for it. In fact, he already knows what you want to say before you even think of saying it.
- God knows what we need before we even know what we need. In other words, God knows how to get your attention when you need him most and keep your head above water in situations where everything seems to be going wrong at once.
5. It doesn’t matter where you are or what you’re doing; He hears your prayers.
God is a loving Father who hears every prayer, and He will answer them. It doesn’t matter what time of day it is, where you are in the world, or how you are feeling. He hears your petitions, and He delights in answering them!
There are so many reasons to pray: For guidance; forgiveness; strength; wisdom; love; peace…the list goes on and on. Whatever your need may be, I encourage you to take a moment right now and talk with God about it!
6. God takes a personal interest in your life, and he listens to the words of your heart!
God is always listening. He is always there, ready to help, and fully aware of your heart’s desire. He hears your prayers, he takes an interest in your life and struggles—and he understands them all too well. God cares deeply about you, just as he cared deeply about his people who wrote these psalms thousands of years ago!
When you speak to God, it’s like speaking with a friend: someone who knows what it means to be human; someone who has walked in our shoes; someone who has experienced every kind of difficulty known to man (and woman). If you’re having trouble trusting that God cares enough about us to listen closely when we talk with him…then let this psalm give you a reason for hope!
Whatever your situation or the prayer you choose to say, God hears all of it. He cares about your life and he wants to know what’s going on in your heart. The Bible says that he watches over us and knows our every word, thought, and deed. So if you’re worried about something right now or just want some reassurance that God is listening to everything we say; then take comfort in knowing that he does!
