FRANCIS CHAN Biography:
Francis Chan is an American preacher, author, and teacher. He is the former teaching pastor of cornerstone community church, which is an evangelical church located in Simi Valley, founded by Chan in1994.
Pastor Chan is also the founder of Eternity Bible College, which was founded in 2004. He has also served as a chancellor until 2010. He has also been a board member of several Christian and social justice organizations such as children’s hunger fund and gospel for Asia he also was an ambassador for care for children.

FAMILY BACKGROUND
Francis Chan was born on 31 August 1967, to his father Pak-sum Chan and his mother Wan-Bing Mui, both of whom were both Christians. His father was also a minister in Leighton Baptist church, Hong Kong. Francis Chan is the third child of his parent. His mother died of excessive bleeding, leaving his father and siblings; Grace Chan, and Paul chan.
Chan was later sent to Hong Kong to be raised by his grandmother who was a Buddhist. His father later got remarried to Amy law who gave birth to Francis half-sister Gloria Chan. In 1976, his step mother died in an automobile accident. Chan’s father remarried again to Josephine Leung.
Althogh Francis Chan didn’t get along with his father while growing up, he said the fear of his father helped him to understand a level of fear of God.
At the young age of 12 Francis Chan lost his father to cancer. In high school, Chan was active in Christian youth groups which helped him to strengthen his faith in Christ and interest in ministry.
FRANCIS CHAN MARRIAGE, WIFE AND CHILDREN
Francis Chan is happily married to Lisa Chan who is a renowned musician. Lisa and her husband Francis founded the Cornerstone church in 1994.
The marriage between Francis and Lisa Chan is blessed with Seven children. Although much is not known about all his children, one of the daughters named Rachael Chan, followed the footsteps of her mother and became a musician. They also have sons named Ezekiel Chan and Dallal Chan.
Dallal Chan, who was adopted when Lisa Chan was pregnant with their sixth child, gave up drugs and living on the streets at the age of sixteen and gave her life to Christ in a church camp. According to Francis, Dallal Chan is a blessing to him and he is very happy and proud to be her father
EDUCATION
Francis Chan graduated from high school and went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree from Master’s college, and a master of divinity degree from the Master’s seminary.
CAREER\MINISTRY
After Francis completed his seminary degree, he got a job as a youth pastor in Chatsworth, California, at the church at rocky peak. In 2009, Christianity today reporting, Chan characterized that period as him not living his life consistently as the religious ideas he was preaching, making him feel like a hypocrite. He pin pointed that as the worst years of his life. He later left the job as a pastor to work in a restaurant waiting tables.
Before becoming a senior pastor, he has done different fast food jobs.
Together with his wife Lisa and 30 others, they founded the Cornerstone community church in 1994. In two months the church had grown to having 100 members attending the services. The church continued to grow and by 2000, they received approval from local officials to expand the building so as to be able to hold twice the capacity of members. By January 2008 Cornerstone was one of the biggest churches in Ventura county, California.
Chan didn’t take salary from his church because he felt challenged to sacrifice more for God. He donated majority of his book profits to the church which amounted to approximately $2 million and also donated to other organizations. Most of it was used to help sex slaves in other nations. Furthermore, in 2008 it was declared that Cornerstone would give away 55% of its income to charitable causes.
Francis also founded Eternity Bible college with just 100 students in 2004 as a ministry of Cornerstone community church. The college started out as an international program in Ecuador in 2008. In 2009 the college also produced 47 graduates serving in various parts of the world. On Sunday April 18th, 2010, he announced to the church his call to resign.
In June 2011, he relocated to northern California and began a church planting network of house churches which is known as ”we are church”.
After that, he joined the board of elders of abundant life Christian fellowship in 2014. After 2 years he left the board in 2016. He worked as a top-level leader in the ”we are church ” network until 2020. He returned to Hong Kong in 2020 and then returned to the United States in January 2021.
