Dr. David Jeremiah daily devotional March 29 2022 : Dual Citizenship

David Jeremiah daily devotional March 29 2022 :

Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God.
    Ephesians 2:19

People from all over the world seek to become Americans for one overriding reason: citizenship and its correlating rights. The Constitution of the United States and the Bill of Rights detail the rights and protections of citizens, and the Fourteenth Amendment specifies two ways to become an American citizen: birthright or naturalization. Those born in America are automatically citizens.

Christians automatically are granted citizenship in another “country” by virtue of birthright: the kingdom of heaven. When we are “born again” (John 3:3) by the Spirit of God through faith in Christ, we are made citizens of heaven. While our citizenship in our home country on earth will one day end, our citizenship in heaven will never end. And while on earth, our citizenship in heaven has benefits and privileges like access to the throne of God (Hebrews 4:16), protection from enemies (Ephesians 6:10-18), and the transforming work of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23).

Do you have dual citizenship—on earth and in heaven? If not, apply today! All it takes is true faith in Christ (Romans 10:9).

Christians have a dual citizenship…and our citizenship in heaven ought to make us better people here on earth.
