Bishop T.D. Jakes, the esteemed pastor of The Potter’s House megachurch, recently disclosed that he underwent emergency surgery following a critical health crisis that required intensive care.
Speaking to his congregation via video call last Sunday, Jakes described his recovery as a miraculous experience, expressing deep gratitude for the grace and mercy he believes carried him through this difficult period.
In a heartfelt moment during the call, the congregation erupted in a standing ovation, reflecting their immense relief and joy at seeing their beloved leader alive and on the path to recovery.
“What you’re witnessing is a miracle,” he stated, emphasizing the gravity of his condition and how narrowly he escaped a far worse outcome.
Expressing his gratitude, Bishop TD Jakes said,
I’m deeply grateful to God for His goodness and mercy, and I extend my appreciation not only to our local church but also to the global community that supports this ministry,” Jakes shared.
He explained that he is adhering to his doctor’s advice to take things slowly as he focuses on rest and recovery.
“I’m in good spirits,” he assured. “I feel good, I’m pain-free, and I’m experiencing peace and tranquility. I want you to know that I can feel your prayers.”
While Jakes did not disclose the specifics of his diagnosis, he expressed gratitude in a post on X, emphasizing that he did not suffer a stroke. He acknowledged that the “event could’ve been fatal if not for God’s intervention.”
During today’s Potter’s House Church Sunday Service, Jake’s son-in-law, Toure Roberts, delivered the sermon and introduced Jakes, allowing him to address the congregation. Jakes’ daughter, Pastor Sarah Jakes Roberts, was also in attendance as the crowd cheered enthusiastically for the renowned pastor and author.
