Mathew 5:14 -16 says:
14 You are the light of the whole world. A city built on top of a hill cannot be hidden.
15 and no one would light a clay pot and put it under a clay pot. A lamp is placed on a lampstand, where it can give light to everyone in the house
16 make your light shine so that others will see the good that you do and will praise your father in heaven.
It is worthy of note that Bishop Bronner has also touched many lives through his charity programs.
It is obvious from the scripture reading above that Jesus instructs us to make our light shine, so that people will see the good we do and praise God. Remember , not to praise us for us to grow ego or become egocentric but praise God. Most time our good works become God’s answer to other’s prayers. In this case, it is important to understand that Jesus remains the source of the good work. He simply used us to answer the prayer. Never misunderstand this. Jesus calls us to be a light house, let us do something to let our light shine. A light house sends out a beacon of light to warn or to guide a ship at sea. The only reason why the light is present at the sea is to warn or guide the sea mariners against danger and guide them not to crash.
Jesus instructs us to become a light house and send out beacons of light to guide others that they may not crash in life, live out a good life, let your light shine on others that they may praise your father in heaven.
The world is full of darkness and when people get in darkness, they do freaky things and so we need light in the world. God has input his light in our lives and so he instructs us to allow the light to shine and end the darkness in the word.
It should be noted that light does not just come to brighten a situation but also to reveal what needs to be changed. Light is a biblical symbol of understanding.
In this sermon, Pastor Dale Bronner also talked about turning a dream into reality. According to him, to turn a dream into reality requires the following steps:
- Pray and seek the heart and purposes of God for you .
- write it down
- Set a deadline (every goal must have a deadline, if it has no deadline, it is not a goal but a wish)
- Make a list of everything you need to do to accomplish it.
- Organize the list into a checklist.
- Take action
- Do something everyday towards your goal.
