One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I shall seek: That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to meditate in His temple.
Psalm 27:4.
The primary quest in my life is to learn how to host the Presence of God. There is no greater privilege than being a host to God Himself. Neither is there a greater responsibility. He is looking for people who will host His Presence without using it for personal gain, and He will give us the measure that we will jealously guard.
Jesus modeled a life fully yielded to the Holy Spirit and gave an incredible example to anyone who would say yes to the call to follow Him. In John 20, He said to His disciples, “As the Father sent me, so I am sending you” and then breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit.”
He has entrusted us with His Holy Spirit, and it’s not good enough to have His Presence as a doctrine. We need to become aware of a Person. If we are carrying a dove on our shoulder and don’t want it to fly away, every step we take must be made with the dove in mind, to protect what is of highest value.
The Spirit of the resurrected Christ lives in us, and He wants out! Wherever we go, He is looking for people who will encounter Him and for people who will host Him. Christ in you is the hope of glory, and the moment He took up residence in us, all of heaven began to look and see what we would do with what we had been given.
