What To Do When You are Bored As A Christian

What should I do as a Christian when I am bored? Our article ”What To Do When You are Bored As A Christian” is designed to serve as a guide to every Christian anytime he/she finds him/her self bored. An idle mind is the devil’s workshop and thus, a moment of boredom for a Christian should be carefully handled and spent.

Are you bored? It’s okay. We’re all going through it. If you’re a Christian, then you might feel like there’s not much to do when you’re bored as a Christian. After all, there are plenty of things that Christians aren’t supposed to do: they can’t watch movies or play video games (depending on the type of movie or game), they can’t drink alcohol or smoke weed, etc. But what if it’s still raining outside? What if your church group is in full swing on Sunday nights? What if the only thing on TV tonight is football? In this article, we’ll explore some ideas for how to fight boredom as a Christian, whether it’s at home or out in public with friends.

What To Do When You are Bored As A Christian

    1. Pray

    • Pray for others.
    • If you’re stuck in a rut, praying for others will help you find something to be thankful for. When we’re grateful, our hearts are more open to God’s grace and goodness, which is one of the most important ways of finding happiness and fulfillment in life.
    • Pray for yourself:
    • Even if it’s only a short prayer or thought during your day that you say silently to yourself, putting yourself first isn’t wrong—it’s actually very healthy! We all need time away from the hustle and bustle of life sometimes so we can reconnect with God and ourselves on a deeper level than usual; so don’t feel guilty if all your prayers seem self-serving sometimes!

    2. Read The Bible

    • Read the Bible every day.
    • Read the Bible in the morning and at night.
    • Read the Bible in a group.
    • Read the Bible in a language you understand.
    • Read the Bible with a friend.
    • Read the Bible with your family. If they don’t want to, though, don’t force them (and vice versa). This can be good for both of you!
    • Think about reading during breakfast or lunch break at work or school (but not while driving).

    3. Watch a sermon

Here’s another way to get inspired: watching sermons.

There are so many options for this! A few things you can try:

    • Search for “sermons” on YouTube. This is a great place to start because there are so many recordings available and they’re often free. The only downside is that you’ll find a lot of older sermons that don’t necessarily reflect what’s happening today, but if you’re looking for inspiration and not just information, then this should work well enough.
    • Search for “sermons” on your local church website or app. If there are any streaming services associated with the church (like iTunes), those will likely appear here as well since they’re tied together through Apple ID logins or something similar like that.
    • Go watch live services in person whenever possible! Most churches have an archive where old sermons are stored so that people who missed out on them can still hear them later—even if it’s been years since someone gave the actual sermon itself (that may sound strange but I promise it happens).

    4. Listen To Christian Music

There are many great Christian artists who make music that is both uplifting and encouraging, such as Hillsong United and Matt Redman. Sometimes when you’re bored, it’s hard to find anything that makes you feel better about yourself or your situation. A simple solution is to put on some Christian music in the background while doing other things around the house or workspace. This can help you focus on something positive instead of wallowing in feelings of boredom.

    5. Join A Group Course

Group courses are a type of online course that allows you to join in the learning process with other students. There are plenty of them available, from Bible studies to learning languages and more. The benefit of group courses is that you can interact with other people who have the same interests as you. They also help you stay motivated by giving encouragement and advice on the course material when needed.

Some examples of great groups you can find on Udemy include:

    • Bible Study Groups – These are led by pastors or ministers who teach about different scriptures and topics
    • Music Lessons – Learn how to play guitar, piano, or drums through this course!

    6. Serve At Church

    • Serve at church. If you are not busy serving in the church, it is a good idea to start right now. There is always something that needs to be done and someone willing to teach you how to do it! You can find out what opportunities are available in your area by asking around or reaching out on social media.
    • Volunteer at a charity/soup kitchen/missionary organization/homeless shelter, etc… This is an easy way for people in our generation (especially college students) to serve God without having time on their hands, but this option also helps those who are looking for something more specific than helping out with the Sunday morning service that tends not have as much impact as helping others who need it most does!

    7. Read Christian books

Reading a good book can be an excellent way to pass time when you’re bored as a Christian. But, there are certain types of books that are more likely to help you grow in your faith than others. When selecting which books to read, consider:

    • Books that are relevant to your life. If you’re struggling with depression or anxiety, try reading some self-help books on those topics. If you’re considering getting married soon and want some advice on how best to prepare yourself for marriage, then pick up some titles like “The 5 Love Languages” by Gary Chapman or “The Seven Habits Of Highly Effective People” by Stephen R Covey (both available for free on Amazon Prime).
    • Books that will help you grow in your relationship with God. Reading the Bible is an obvious example here; most Christians find that reading through Scripture regularly helps them stay connected with God even when they don’t feel like spending time praying or attending church services regularly. But there are other ways of deepening our spiritual connection too! For example: if someone has been convicted by the Holy Spirit about something specific—maybe it’s an addiction or something else—then I’d recommend reading up on how others have dealt with similar struggles before seeking out professional counseling; this way we can get a better idea of whether this person needs professional help right away (which would be expensive) or if they just need encouragement from family members over time so they eventually seek out professional counseling after their personal problems have resolved themselves naturally through natural recovery processes within one’s own body/mind system (this process takes longer but costs less money).

When You’re Bored As A Christian: Finding Ways to Be Productive

When it comes to being a Christian, there is always something to do. From spiritual enrichment to helping those in need, there are countless opportunities to serve God, and even when you feel like you have nothing to do, there are still plenty of options available. So, if you’re bored as a Christian, here are some ideas to help you stay productive and make the most of your time.

First, it’s important to remember that being bored is not necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes it’s a sign that you need to take a break from the hustle and bustle of life and spend some time in personal reflection and prayer. Spending time alone with God can help to put things into perspective and give you a much-needed opportunity to recharge and refocus.

Second, find ways to serve others. Serving those around us is one of the best ways to honor God and make a difference in the world. Whether it’s volunteering at a local soup kitchen, visiting a nursing home, or helping out at a homeless shelter, there are countless ways to serve those in need. Not only will you be doing something meaningful and worthwhile, but you will also be investing in your spiritual well-being.

Third, take some time to learn more about your faith. Spend some time reading the Bible or digging into a devotional book or study guide. You can also attend a local church service or Bible study group to get more in-depth information about the Bible and your faith. Learning more about your faith can help to deepen your relationship with God and make you a better Christian.

Fourth, use your talents to glorify God. Whatever your talents or interests may be, there is a way to use them to honor God and serve others. If you’re an artist, you can create a painting or sculpture in praise of God. If you’re a writer, you can use your talents to write about your faith in a blog or article. If you’re a musician, you can use your talents to write Christian music or join a worship team at your church.

Fifth, get involved in a local mission or outreach program. Whether it’s helping out at a food pantry or working with a local homeless shelter, there are countless ways to use your time and talents to serve the local community. Volunteering with a mission or outreach program can help you to make a difference in the lives of those around you and can deepen your personal faith.

Finally, take some time to just have fun. While there are certainly plenty of ways to be productive as a Christian, it’s also important to take some time to just enjoy life. Spend time with your friends, go out and explore your city, take a walk in the park, or just relax and watch a movie. Taking time for yourself can help to refresh your spirit, and it’s a great way to stay connected with God.

Being bored as a Christian doesn’t have to be a bad thing. There are plenty of ways to stay productive and make the most of your time. Whether it’s spending time in prayer, serving those in need, learning more about your faith, using your talents to glorify God, or just taking some time to relax and have fun, there are plenty of ways to stay productive and honor God. So, the next time you find yourself bored, take the opportunity to get out there and use your time to serve God in meaningful and impactful ways.

So, you’re bored as a Christian. Good. Boredom is a sign of inner restlessness. You want something new and exciting in your life. But it’s important to know that boredom is not something God wants for us—it’s actually part of the human condition, like guilt or loneliness or anger. The good news is Jesus came to help us with those things! He has the power to transform our lives if we let Him have His way with them (Psalm 23:6). In the end, boredom may be more about our own doubts than anything else; if we can just trust God enough to get through this difficult time together with others who are going through similar struggles then maybe someday soon we will find ourselves back on an even keel once again—thankfully with no more distractions from what really matters most.
