Aimee Semple McPherson, famously known as Sister Aimee or Sister, was a Canadian Evangelist and famous Media Personality. She was popular during the 1920s and 1930s; she was also well known for forming the Foursquare church.

Early Life
Aimee Semple McPherson was born on the 9th of October, 1890, in Salford, Ontario, Canada, to James Morgan and Mildred Ona Kennedy. She had a brief exposure to religion through her mother, who worked in the Salvation Army Soup Kitchens.
As a teenager, McPherson deviated from her mother’s teaching and read several novels, and attended movies and dances which were disapproved by her father’s Methodist Religion and the Salvation Army.
In High School, she was taught the “Theory of Evolution,” which sparked several questions about faith and science. Aimee Semple enjoyed fame after writing to a Canadian newspaper, questioning the taxpayer-funded teaching on evolution. She had a lot of responses to her letter, which started a lifelong anti-evolution crusade.
Personal Life
Aimee Semple McPherson married Robert James Semple in August 1908 and had a daughter, Roberta Star Semple. After the demise of her husband, she went back to help her mother with the Salvation Army.
Aimee Semple remarried in 1912 to Accountant Harold Stewart McPherson, and they had a son, Rolf Potter Kennedy McPherson. She experienced another marriage in 1932 to actor and musician David Hutton after separating from Harold Stewart.
Career
Aimee Semple McPherson’s career has centered on ministerial works in William Durham’s Full Gospel Assembly in Chicago, Tour of the Southern United States, and evangelist work in Assemblies of God, USA, between 1919 – 1922. She has engaged in several charitable works, including the earthquake in Santa Barbara (1925) and Long Beach (1933).
The Foursquare Church
McPherson started broadcasting on radio in the early 1920s. In April 1922, she became the first female to preach a Sermon wirelessly. Aimee Semple McPherson created Foursquare Gospel in 1924 and became the second woman allowed a broadcast license by the Department of Commerce.
Death
Aimee Semple McPherson died on the 27th of September, 1944.
